Camp Horseshoe is designed for adults with developmental disabilities, and our application asks for supporting documentation so we can plan appropriate support. A formal diagnosis isn't the only thing we look at - what matters most is understanding each person's support needs through our individualized review. If you are unsure if Camp Horsehoe is a good fit, pleace contact us to have a conversation.Â
Our property includes wooded surroundings, open grounds, and indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, and accessibility varies across the site. We'd rather be specific than general - please contact us about your camper's mobility needs, and we'll walk you through what's accessible and what's not.Â
Our team is trained across behaviour support, crisis prevention and intervention, individualized care planning, first aid and CPR, medication administration, emergency procedures, and confidentiality. Screening requirements, including police record checks, are part of our hiring process. Please see the About Us page for more information.
We'd love to show you around! Reach out through the contact form, and we'll let you know about visit options and any open house dates for our first season.
Campers here are adults, and personal devices are part of many people's daily routines. We'll confirm our approach to devices - including any guidance around charging, storage, and photos of other campers - through the intake process.Â
Difficult days happen, and our staff are trained to respond calmly, consistently, and respectfully - often by understanding what the behaviour is communicating. If a camper needs to head home early, we'll contact the family or caregiver listed on the application and make a plan together. Early departures and any related refunds are handled case by case.Â
Yes, subject to availability. Some campers come for a single session, and others return across the summer. Weekly themes and dates for our first season are being finalized. Please start an inquiry, and we'll share the latest session details.Â
Please ask. Familiar faces make a first summer easier, and we'll do our best to honour requests when planning group and, for overnight camp, sleeping arrangements. We can't guarantee every request, since grouping also depends on each camper's approved support plan.Â
